Year-round plumage for male is mostly orange on sides, chest and belly, with black head and back. Female is orange yellow on chest and belly and wings and back are brownish with black mottling
Habitat includes hardwood trees interspersed throughout open, grassy areas
Insectivore and herbivore, eating insects, fruits, and nectar.
