• A medium-sized, although heavy-bodied (12-45 pounds), mammal
• Primary range is throughout nearly the entire United States
• Nocturnal
• Mostly gray to brown body, distinctive black mask across face and eyes, and bushy tail with alternating light and dark bands of fur.
• Habitat is very general; uses woodlands, wetlands, prairies, yards, and agricultural areas
• Omnivorous, eating fish, reptiles, amphibians, small mammals, eggs, insects, fruit, vegetables, and other green vegetation
